A people, not a programme

Everyone can grow.
Everyone can contribute.

The church is a body, not an audience. We grow as people receive truth, practise love, discover responsibility and make room for one another to become mature in Christ.

Service is not a way to earn belonging. It is one of the ways belonging becomes visible: gifts are offered, needs are noticed and faith is carried into ordinary work.

A wise beginning does not demand that a person already know their place. It makes room for prayer, conversation, observation and a first step that can be carried well.

The participation journey

From interest to faithful service.

  1. 01

    Explore

Understand the purpose, people and expectations of a ministry pathway before making a commitment.

  2. 02

    Connect

Begin with a real conversation about capacity, questions, care and what serving could involve.

  3. 03

    Prepare

Receive orientation, appropriate safeguarding guidance and a clear first responsibility.

  4. 04

    Serve

Take a supported step with named expectations, healthy boundaries and room to learn.

  5. 05

    Grow

Develop character, skill, wisdom and capacity over time through feedback and community.

How we participate

A good yes is clear, voluntary and sustainable.

Healthy ministry creates room for contribution without using pressure, confusion or exhaustion as proof of commitment.

01

Start with presence

Before taking responsibility, learn the life of the house: the people, the worship, the teaching and the needs already being carried.

02

Serve from grace

Gifts are received, not performed for approval. We serve because Christ has welcomed us, not in order to become worthy of welcome.

03

Keep honest limits

Capacity, family, health, work and season matter. A faithful commitment is one that can be carried with truthfulness and care.

04

Receive correction

Growth requires humility. Clear feedback and accountable relationships protect people and help service become more life-giving.

Ministry pathways

Room for every generation.

Each pathway is a place to receive, practise and contribute. We begin with conversation, clear expectations and a pace that serves people well.

Healthy participation

People should be served well while they serve.

Healthy ministry does not demand usefulness before it offers care. It gives people a clear beginning, appropriate preparation, named support and room to grow in character as well as skill.

We take seriously the responsibility to protect children, vulnerable people and everyone entrusted to the life of the church. Any role that requires additional review, training or safeguarding checks should say so before a person begins.
